I Love Your Stuff! Tonight is a busy night! We suggest the following… Start off at “I love your stuff S*express Y*ourself”. DJ’s Freddie Fagula and No-No will be spinning and it’s a great pre-funk event. Starts at 7pm @ The E Room. Gaycation Turns 4!! Then later, GAYCATION turns 4! 1 person likes this post. funner than this One of Portland’s favourite queer nights, gaycation, is turning an amazing, post toddleresque total of 4 years old! Given the short lifespan of queer nights in this city, we’re very happy that Gay Cay is around and going stronger ever. Come celebrate with Mr Charming, DJ Snowtiger and special guest KIM ANN FOXMAN (of Hercules & Love Affair). Expect tunes that will keep you on the dancefloor, wall [...] This is the album I bought the first time I ever skipped school in 6th grade. This is also what you should be wearing tomorrow… Coco’s 90s inspired dance party Snap! at Holocene (1001 SE Morrison) has always been queer friendly. They even had a crossover party with Double Down called Double Snap! last spring. But local queers have become used to having a party thrown in our honor almost [...] Pop Tart Kittehs might show up too Come out and shake your tailfeather with some queer girls (and other fine people)! DJ Nolita and Chelsea Starr will be on the decks, and there will be a signature $3 cocktail until 11pm. The best way to beat this windy cold weather is to come out and have a dance! It also means that because of their sheer number I cannot preview all that I would like, but each are in the calendar and I want to give you a quick heads up on the ones you absolutely should not miss. Tonight If you don’t already have plans be sure to check out Poison Waters Notorious Noel [...] Bearracuda returns to Portland Saturday The beginnings of autumn may have put a slight lull into Portland’s queer nightlife as we all toyed with the idea of staying in, cuddling our snuggies, but I assure you this was a temporary lapse in judgment. We are still two weeks out from Halloween and already the weekend is packed with dress up dance parties. Tonight’s monthly lady party, Crave, at Crush (1400 SE [...] DJ Automaton at the decks Wednesdays are often quite a full hump day with the weekly Fame/Gay Pizza/Slice, and monthlies Lube Job and Gloss. But tonight also features a special mix of 2 of Holocene’s (1001 SE Morrison) dykiest nights. Tonight’s Tartdown is a celebration of Double Down and Tart as well as a going away party of sorts. From the organizers: Like The very first order of business upon returning from Mexico late last night is most certainly tonight’s dueling Dirty Dancing flash mob celebrations at the two most infamous gay nights in town, Gaycation and Blow Pony. Holocene’s night will begin at midnight at Blow Po goes down at 1am. Below is an instructional video from Gaycay’s Mr. Charming and the always-performing Max Voltage. Indeed the fact/excuse that this review is a day or two late is testament to just how big a queer party weekend it was. Friday started it off with an extremely packed and sweaty Fruitcake which may quickly outgrow its britches, and perhaps already has, in the fine tradition of upstarts such as Booty. But it [...] The Sissyboy troupe After an epic final show in October 2007, the unabashedly naughty Sissyboy shock drag troupe called it quits, and the gentlemen all, literally, went their own ways. But the dream never died. Various related performance groups arose and the Sissyboys released an underground documentary film. Key member, Splendora (aka Lee Kyle), continued to perform around Portland before moving to New York City. Amazed at the Big Apple’s timidity, [...] I hate it when this happens. Portland is so gaymazing that some of the best events must overlap. But still I know these folks all know each other. We couldn’t make one dance night on Saturday? Nevertheless, you should try to make it to at least 1 of these fantastic events. The competing club nights Gaycation at Holocene (1001 SE Morrison) and Fruitcake at Rumpspankers (700 NE Dekum) are both great [...] Many of us started the patriotic party early with last night’s Delicious but it’s not time to take off those dancing shoes yet because you’ve got 2 days to go. You’ve already been alerted to tonight’s Gaytriotic Gaycation, but July 4th itself also busts out with the new Casual Encounters at Rotture. One of the best parts of this party is the amazing back patio, perfect for Willamette fireworks watching. Like |
