Come on Portland dancing queens! Gay, lesbian, queer dance-fans, listen up! Katrina O’Brien, local Portland dancer and choreographer is looking for 5+ fun loving queers to join a low-key, non-professional lineup of dancers for a one off performance at the last ever (sad!!) Homomentum next month. No particular skillset needed – you don’t have to be a “dancer” to join, but you do get to work with some talented (Katrina) and [...]  We can be disappointed by the real Academy Awards but Portland is great at making shunning the mainstream in favor of our own winners. Homomentum‘s Gaycademy Awards will be just such a show. Homomentum's Timewarp Talent show this Saturday Last month’s inaugural Homomentum installment was a freaky success and this sophomore expedition into our past this Saturday should be just as enjoyable. I can’t wait to see some mall hair, and stiff high bangs when the folks from Pants Off Productions bring on the Timewarp Talent Show. This month’s performance pleasures include burlesque from Jodi Bon Jodi and Venus Envy, hip hop dance from [...] Rai Villanueva in action Aerosol artist Rai Villanueva has been getting increasing attention these days with pieces blowing up all 5 of Portland’s “quadrants,” most recently as part of the 10 day Manor of Art festival. But this weekend the energetic newcomer will be taking over the E Room (3701 SE Division) at 8pm with Rose City RagBag, a celebration of her solo work. Featuring live painting, raffles and various [...] Catitude at the last Kick/Ball/Change This Sunday saw the final installment of the queer dance extravaganza, Kick/Ball/Change. The performance, which included regulars such as Untrained, I, Catitude, and Beefcake Burlesque, also featured newcomers Under the Radar and a sexy solo by Carlee Smith. And though there were moments of hilarity and fabulousness, the performance was also tinged with sadness. And now we must be in mourning. Like
Homo's Got Talent winner achieved the spot with sweet snacks to the tune of "Do I Look Like a Slut?" I’m still digesting the full brunt of last night’s amazing Homo’s Got Talent dance-off competition so a review is forthcoming. However, I can tease all of you who weren’t there and provide happy memories to those of you who were with a plethora of titillating talented homo photos. You know a performance [...] We all know Oregon queers have got it going on, but we also have a sense of humor. So this Saturday will see us putting our hip swaying to the test with a spoof of reality television dance shows. Homo’s Got Talent, perfectly situated in the E Room‘s dark tomb (3701 SE Division), gives local performers a chance to compete to win prizes from local businesses as well as the prestigious [...] Portland’s dance, drag and other queer performances are most certainly building back up after a short lull, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for more. It seems to be a quieter weekend out on the queer partty circuit, which is probably a good thing because Pride was a little excessive! But if you’ve recovered enough to want to shake your booty with the young, hip dykes of Portland, head on down [...] As these things go, I’m going to try and deal with my hangover headache in new and inventive ways – recapping it! Last night saw a plethora of queer nights going on, as I’m sure you already knew.
