Whip Cream Olympics at Red Cap – Yet another Red Cap party that some will be titillate some and disgust others, this is a week long championship of feats of athleticism involving that sweet, fluffy treat.

Pre-funk with DJ Lunch Lady - Low key Killingsworth coffee shop red e (1006 North Killingsworth) is one of my new favs, (even though I also love the nearby CoffeeHouse 5) and DJ Lunch Lady will be at the helm for an early evening art opening. I heard that his inaugural Cafeteria party at Vendetta was off the chain, so combine that with free alcohol and it’s the perfect start to your weekend.

The Gong Show – Bad Scene Productions brings you a 70s game show redux for the 2nd time to benefit outside in. Judged by The Mercury’s Wm. Steven Humphrey & Marjorie Skinner and William Batty & Sadie LaGuerre of Wanderlust Circus there’s bound to be nothing appropriate of the former Sissyboy members performing as KD Rang and Mami Tsunami hosted show.
But I’m especially excited to see openers Hammercise with members of the Sprockettes bringing you a whole new way to exercise for summer getting in shape.

 'Sissyboy Washes Up' Photo by Marty Davis / Just Out This weekend was pretty epic. Indeed the fact/excuse that this review is a day or two late is testament to just how big a queer party weekend it was.
Friday started it off with an extremely packed and sweaty Fruitcake which may quickly outgrow its britches, and perhaps already has, in the fine tradition of upstarts such as Booty. But it was Saturday’s combo of 2 big returns, Sissyboy and Blow Pony, that truly raised the roof.

 The Sissyboy troupe After an epic final show in October 2007, the unabashedly naughty Sissyboy shock drag troupe called it quits, and the gentlemen all, literally, went their own ways. But the dream never died. Various related performance groups arose and the Sissyboys released an underground documentary film.
Key member, Splendora (aka Lee Kyle), continued to perform around Portland before moving to New York City. Amazed at the Big Apple’s timidity, Kyle was determined to reunite the boys for a truly envelope-pushing east coast performance. Luckily, we get to see it first.

The night starts early with the traditional Dyke March beginning in the North Park blocks at 6pm with a march step-off at 7. A veritable meet and greet of all your exes (if you’re part of the dyke/trans community) it is most certainly the see and be scene pre-function of the night.

How do you take something ridiculous and over-the-top and make it more so? The general recipe calls for nasty sassy drag queens, talent shows or 80s game shows. This overwhelming melee of more than you ever expected from American Idol has all three. In a night of Sissyboy-hosted mania, “The Gong Show,” a benefit for Outside In, takes over Rotture (315 SE Third) tomorrow, Friday, April 10th. Doors are at 8 p.m., show at 10 p.m.
